Meijer is gearing up for its newest neighborhood market store: Independence Market.
Independence Market, which is slated to open April 30, comes just over a year after the debut of Fairfax Market — Meijer’s first neighborhood market outside of its home state of Michigan — and marks the grocer’s sixth market format location.
The upcoming 50,000-square-foot store will occupy space at 5820 Waldon Road in Clarkston, Michigan, and include grocery staples, fresh and deli meats, produce, a bakery and a mix of private and national brand items, according to a Wednesday announcement. The store will also include local products, such as coffee from Shaded Bloom Coffee Roasters.
Aside from food offerings, Independence Market will house a floral and gift shop, health and beauty products, pet food and supplies, and a café space featuring coffee and Latin street food from local restaurant Honcho, per the press release.
Along with neighborhood markets, Meijer operates Meijer Grocery, Meijer Express and supercenters, which add up to more than 500 locations across six Midwestern states.
