- The launch comes as grocers continue to leverage their private brands to drive excitement and impulse purchases from customers.
Dive Insight:
Albertsons said the lemony collection is just the start of its plans to launch more seasonal items.
The citrusy products span multiple departments and include selections such as lemon-flavored wafer rolls under the Overjoyed brand, lemon potato chips under Signature Select and two new sparkling waters under Soleil.
Customers can find the products online and across Albertsons’ banners, including Albertsons, Safeway, Acme, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Vons and Tom Thumb.
Albertsons noted that the new limited-time products have “vibrant, unified packaging” and are being promoted as seasonal items with “a zesty ‘Burst of Flavor’ marketing campaign.” The grocer is marketing the new products through emails, social media, digital channels, in-store signage and weekly print ads.
Albertsons said customers can expect seasonal programs for the fall and winter featuring “a festive twist.”
Limited-time products have long been a staple of the restaurant industry, and some grocers have dabbled in offering certain items for a select period of time to drive novelty. In 2023, Publix jumped on the Nashville hot chicken bandwagon with a deli sandwich that the grocer made available for just three months.
