Aldi announced Wednesday that its Thanksgiving deal for 2024 will feed 10 people for less than $47.
The discounter’s basket includes a Butterball turkey, gravy, rolls, macaroni and cheese and stuffing. The meal also includes the ingredients for cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie, according to the press release.
Costing less than $4.70 a person, shoppers can access Aldi’s Thanksgiving deal without additional sales, coupons, a minimum purchase requirement or a loyalty card, the discounter said, noting that this year’s basket offers prices lower than in 2019.
Aldi’s annual Thanksgiving deal continues to be a staple for the discounter as it plots nationwide growth in the coming years. Last year, Aldi rolled out price reductions of up to 50% off on more than 70 seasonal staples ahead of Thanksgiving. And, in 2022, the discounter launched a “Thanksgiving Price Rewind” that matched pre-pandemic prices on appetizers, desserts, sides and beverages.
As shoppers remain heavily price-conscious, discounters are becoming bigger competitors for traditional grocers.
Discounters, as well as Walmart, have become the only grocery channels consumers associate with “affordability,” according to research published earlier this year by Boston Consulting Group. The report added that while national grocers have seen success in proving to customers that they are convenient and reliable, they struggle to stand out in value or quality.
