Dive Insight:
Upside’s partnership with AWG member Roberts brings the company’s promotions technology to two more grocery banners: Corner Market and Grocery Depot, which are located in the Jackson and Hattiesburg, Mississippi, areas.
AWG first linked up with Upside in October 2023 to offer shoppers personalized promotions and prompt them to create larger baskets and increase store visits.
Upside’s promotions will also help make Corner Market and Grocery Depot stores “the easy choice for customers,” Price Mabry, Roberts’ vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.
This tie-up will also better meet the needs of the “uncommitted customer” — a category of shoppers who are not loyal to any particular brand and represents an opportunity for retailers to capture incremental visits and spending, according to Upside.
The partnership builds Upside’s growing roster of retailer partners. In February, Shop ‘n Save began using Upside to offer incentives and personalized promotions for its shoppers, aiming to bolster its existing loyalty program and promote customer loyalty. A month later, Upside announced it had expanded its work with Price Chopper/Market 32 to enhance its loyalty program and encourage shoppers to join it.
Currently, Upside is active in nearly 100,000 U.S. grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations and convenience stores.
