Dive Insight:
The Loblaw banners included in this new on-demand delivery partnership include Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart, Atlantic Superstore, Provigo, Real Canadian Superstore and Maxi & Cie in addition to Loblaw’s PC Express app. Customers can shop over 50,000 grocery and convenience products from these stores on the DoorDash Marketplace app, according to the announcement.
Up until Oct. 23, Loblaw and DoorDash are celebrating this new phase of their partnership by offering customers $10 off orders placed on the DoorDash Marketplace app totaling $40 or more. In addition, Loblaw products will be available to DashPass members for unlimited $0 delivery fees as well as reduced service fees on select orders, per the press release.
“Online grocery has changed. It is not a one-size fits all solution. Customers are looking for varying levels of convenience – orders within minutes, shopping from favourite apps, and a seamless experience,” Galen G. Weston, Loblaw Companies president and chairman, said in the announcement.
This rapid-delivery option through DoorDash’s app is the latest installment in the delivery company and grocer’s partnership. In June of this year, DoorDash partnered with Loblaw to power rapid delivery through dark stores. The service launched in major Canadian cities including Vancouver, the greater Toronto area, Calgary and Kitchener.
In the past year, DoorDash has also partnered with numerous grocery and retail chains to offer delivery services, including Raley’s, Dollar General and BJ’s Wholesale Club. Its partnership with SpartanNash includes on-demand delivery from retail stores as well as offering DoorDash Drive delivery service to the company’s retailer customers.
