Dive Insight:
Along with the ability to place H Mart orders on Uber Eats, the companies noted that the partnership allows for same-day delivery from HMart.com powered by Uber Direct, which enables businesses like H Mart to use Uber’s courier network for sales made through their owned channels.
For a limited time, H Mart customers can get up to 50% off orders over $50 when ordering from the grocer through Uber Eats.
Uber launched grocery delivery in July 2020 and has since built up its roster of food retailer partners, which include Albertsons, Meijer, Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market, SpartanNash and Hy-Vee. During the company’s first-quarter earnings call in May, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said that about 15% of Eats monthly active users bought from the grocery vertical.
Last week, H Mart selected digital commerce platform VTEX to power its e-commerce operations alongside global creative agency VML, VTEX announced, noting that the move “marks a significant milestone for H Mart in its digital transformation” as the chain transitions from a legacy commerce platform to a SaaS commerce platform. H Mart consolidated separate systems for dry and fresh goods into a unified commerce experience with VTEX, which allows customers to order both shelf-stable and fresh items in the same cart, the company said.
H Mart currently has over 90 locations across North America.
