Hannaford is giving its customers coupons in the wake of a multi-day online outage.
The Ahold Delhaize banner is offering $10 off an in-store or online purchase of at least $100, according to a screenshot of the emailed offer shared with Grocery Dive. The coupon expires Nov. 27.
“We appreciate your patience while our website was down, and we’re sorry that you couldn’t use your Just for You coupons as planned,” Hannaford said in the email.
Hannaford said in a Facebook post on Monday that its website is now live, adding that customers could place pickup and delivery orders “as slots become available.” The banner had been offline since at least Nov. 7 due to a cybersecurity incident, resulting in the chain canceling online orders.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience, and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,” the Facebook post said. “We recognize that you rely on us to nourish your families and we deeply value that relationship.”
In a statement Wednesday, Hannaford said it isn’t sharing information yet about what caused the online outage: “We understand that our customers have questions about the cybersecurity issue. Because an investigation is ongoing, we’re not able to share additional details at this time.”
Parent company Ahold Delhaize announced Nov. 8 it had detected a cybersecurity issue within its U.S. network and had launched an investigation, noting that it also notified law enforcement.
While Hannaford’s website and app went completely dark, Ahold Delhaize’s other U.S. banners — Stop & Shop, The Giant Company, Giant Food and Food Lion — remained online but told customers they may experience disruptions and reduced availability for pickup and delivery due to “system outages.”
All of the five banners’ stores remained open during the incident.
Last week, customers faced widespread out-of-stocks in the fresh departments at some Stop & Shop stores, which the chain said was due to an IT systems issue that impacted the shipment of select products.
