Dive Insight:
Mazza’s appointment to lead RedMedia comes less than a year after she joined Hy-Vee to serve as the retail media arm’s senior vice president.
In her new leadership role for RedMedia, Mazza will oversee the retail media network’s growth and development, according to the announcement. Mazza will also oversee Hy-Vee’s marketing as CMO. She noted in a statement that strengthening the company’s vendor and supplier partnerships will be a top priority.
“Kathryn is the right leader to help bring our retail media and marketing efforts together to create even more value for our customers and our vendor partners,” Hy-Vee Chairman and CEO Jeremy Gosch said in the announcement.
Prior to joining Hy-Vee, Mazza was Dick’s Sporting Goods’ vice president of media and general manager of retail media. She brings nearly 20 years of experience to her new position.
Donna Tweeten’s last day with the grocery company was on Friday after a 35-year career with Hy-Vee, a Hy-Vee spokesperson confirmed. Tweeten has served in numerous leadership roles, including president of Hy-Vee, president of RedMedia and chief marketing officer of Hy-Vee. She announced her plans to retire in October.
Since debuting RedMedia in fall 2023, Hy-Vee has rolled out more than 10,000 in-store screens through a partnership with GroceryTV and also grown its retail media network’s leadership team.
