Publix Super Markets is entering the greater Cincinnati area after signing a lease for its sixth Kentucky store, according to an email from the grocer.
The Boone, Kentucky, location will span 55,701 square feet and operate adjacent to a Publix Liquors, which sells beer, wine and spirits. Projected to open in 2025, the store will be located at the Triple Crown Shopping Center at the southwest corner of Triple Crown Blvd. and Richwood Road.
Florida-based Publix is continuing to expand in the Bluegrass State. It has three stores set to open in Louisville, Kentucky — the first of which will debut in January at the Terra Crossing Shopping Center at 2500 Terra Crossing Blvd., according to a local news report. The retailer also has two locations slated to open in Lexington, Kentucky.
The grocery even has a dedicated website called “Hello Kentucky” to connect with shoppers, list job openings, update customers on loyalty programs and announce new products and deals as it advances into the state.
In recent years, Publix has expanded northward into new markets, hoping to win over shoppers with its Pub Subs, Aprons culinary brand and other offerings. It now operates more than 100 stores across the Carolinas and 19 stores in Virginia, where it debuted in 2017.
Kentucky marks Publix’s eighth state of operation, building on its footprint of more than 1,300 stores across seven additional states as well 10 distribution centers and 10 manufacturing facilities, per the grocer’s website.
