The Raley’s Companies announced Thursday the promotion of two veteran senior executives.
Mike Gabbert will take on the role of senior vice president and chief of human resources for the grocery company and Donna Mendes will step into the position of executive director of logistics.
Gabbert has been with Raley’s for more than 40 years. He started his career in the grocer’s human resources department, then spent nearly 20 years in store operations and recently led the company’s distribution and logistics operations. In his new position, Gabbert will lead all aspects of human resources, including talent acquisition, benefits, compensation, leadership and development, and team member relations, according to the press release.
As Gabbert’s successor in distribution logistics, Mendes’ new role will involve leading the Natomas Distribution Center, including supply chain planning and execution processes with internal stakeholders to increase product in-store availability, per the announcement.
Mendes has been with Raley’s for 27 years, leading numerous in-store departments and holding multiple operational leadership roles. Her most recent position with Raley’s involved leading store operations as district team leader.
These promotions come a few months after Raley’s laid off 47 employees as part of a corporate downsizing, which affected several operating divisions including Bashas’ and DTC produce subscription box fieldTrue.
