Dive Insight:
Like other grocers, Save A Lot is promoting new ways for customers to get more savings as inflation continues to impact their spending.
“So many customers today are shopping with a limited budget. We wanted to find a fun, engaging way to help them see how they can stretch each dollar even further,” Save A Lot Senior Vice President of Field Sales and Marketing Mark Kotcher said in a statement.
With Shop the Dot, Save A Lot is embracing its logo and continuing the playful attitude that it has leaned into in previous marketing campaigns.
“The Lot Dot is full of Save A Lot personality,” Kotcher said in the announcement. “Most importantly, it highlights how we’re working hard to keep great deals coming, especially as high inflation continues to challenge families.”
Each month, the Shop the Dot program will spotlight in stores different price drops valid for a limited time, ranging from 30 days to 90 days, per the announcement. It will also call out weekly sale pricing and new items. Customers can find the regular Shop the Dot price drops in their store’s weekly circular on savealot.com or in their inbox if they have signed up for Save A Lot’s email program.
Save A Lot said that it will also make an investment in promoting lower prices through a digital advertising buy, which will include social media and streaming TV.
The new program follows work by Save A Lot in recent years to bolster its reputation for low prices and a fun shopping experience.
Two summers ago, Save A Lot launched a music video and advertising campaign to spotlight its remodeled stores and low prices. A year later, the discounter rolled out a new ad campaign focused on promoting its private label as better quality and better priced than national brand equivalents.
