- Shipt has named Amy Benson, former vice president of human resources at Target, as its new chief people and community officer, the e-commerce company announced in a Monday blog post.
- Benson will oversee Target-owned Shipt’s human resources division, including equity, diversity and inclusion as well as its local and national corporate giving, economic development and community engagement, per the blog post.

Benson has over two decades of human resource experience and has spent the entirety of her career at Target. She held a number of human resources positions working for the retailer, including human resources manager, senior group manager of human resources for marketing and numerous senior director positions, according to her LinkedIn profile.
As Target’s vice president for human resources, Benson oversaw the retailer’s merchandising, strategy, product design and sourcing capabilities both within the U.S. and internationally, according to the announcement. She also provided direct support to Target’s chief growth officer and chief merchandising officer.
“Amy brings remarkable knowledge and experience to Shipt,” Shipt’s CEO Kamau Witherspoon said in a statement. “Amy's reputation as a strategic leader in developing talent and fostering community brings the expertise we need to continue building upon Shipt's strong company culture.”
In October 2022, Shipt announced two new c-suite level executives, hiring Alia Kemet as chief marketing officer and promoting Smrutha Ipparthi to chief product officer. Earlier this February, the e-commerce platform also launched its new accelerator program, aiming to help small businesses through capital, e-commerce-focused technical assistance and education for industry experts.
