Target unveiled Monday several additions to its adult beverage department, including options that are only available at the retailer.
The retailer’s new offerings include five varietals from Open Skies, a brand that is exclusive to Target. The company also has recently welcomed three wine brands to its shelves: Sun Goddess by Mary J. Blige, Une Femme Wine by Jen Pelka and Cool Cat Wine Spritzers.
The announcement noted that alcohol selections vary from state to state.
Target highlighted Open Skies’ $7.99 price point, positioning it as a deal for consumers planning for Easter meals.
The retailer also spotlighted that three of the four wine brands that came to its shelves in March are from owners of underrepresented backgrounds. Sun Goddess is women- and Black-owned, Cool Cat Wine Spritzers is LGBTQ+- and minority-owned and Une Femme Wine is women-owned.
Target has long toasted to its alcohol offerings, from expanding e-commerce options for people looking to buy boozy beverages to growing its private label. A vibrant wine selection also helps boost Target’s image as a hip destination for consumers.
In addition to the new wine offerings welcomed last March, the Monday announcement also spotlighted other brands and exclusives that Target has started selling in recent months, including the Casa Cantina private label line of pre-mixed cocktails that the retailer debuted last June. Additions to Target stores last fall include Archer Roose from Actress Elizabeth Banks and Spade & Sparrow from Kaitlyn Bristowe of “The Bachelorette” and “Dancing with the Stars” fame.
