The Giant Company has made two top leadership promotions.
The Ahold Delhaize banner announced Friday the appointment of Rebecca Lupfer as chief financial officer and Dave Lessard as senior vice president of operations, customer experience and perishable distribution. Both executives’ new roles took effect Monday.
Lupfer has been with The Giant Company for nearly six years, during which she has served as its director of merchandise planning, vice president of center store grocery and, most recently, vice president of the mid-Atlantic division, where she oversaw retail operations for 100 Giant and Martin’s stores. Prior to joining Giant, Lupfer worked at Ahold Delhaize USA for more than twelve years.
As chief financial officer, Lupfer will lead the grocery company’s finance, format, real estate and strategy departments, according to the grocer’s press release.
Lessard has been with Giant for nearly six years. He joined the company as vice president of fresh merchandising, overseeing the produce, meat and seafood, bakery, deli, prepared foods and floral departments. Last year, he added oversight of the grocer’s perishable distribution center to his responsibilities, per the announcement.
Before his career at Giant, Lessard worked for The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company for almost 25 years and, in 2002, joined the Ahold Delhaize family of brands as director of produce at Giant Landover.
In his new role for Giant, Lessard will oversee the grocer’s retail operations, perishable distribution and transportation teams, according to the press release.
The Giant Company has made other notable executive changes during this past year. In July, John Ruane, who was interim president after Nicholas Bertram departed in August 2022, took over as the grocer’s new president. Both Lupfer and Lessard will report directly to Ruane.
