The Palmdale project will include an 827,000-square-foot hub, a 211,000-square-foot freezer building and a 6,000-square-foot accessory building, per the announcement.
The site will occupy the southeast corner of Avenue M and 10th St. W. Trader Joe’s expects to start work on the 104-acre site in December and complete the 1.03-million-square-foot logistics center in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to The Orange County Register.
Trader Joe’s has a store in Palmdale and more than a dozen nearby in areas in and surrounding Los Angeles including West Hills, Santa Clarita, Glendale, North Hollywood and Culver City.
The city of Palmdale noted that it included several conditions of approval, such as road improvements and bike path construction, as part of the project’s entitlement process.
“The project aligns with the City's commitment to economic vitality, innovation and job creation and catalyzes additional industrial development in Palmdale,” Palmdale Mayor Laura Bettencourt said in the announcement.
Earlier this year, Trader Joe’s announced it’s building a similarly sized assembly and distribution center in Kentucky that’s projected to begin turning out products this fall, according to local reports.
