Wegmans has revealed the opening dates for a pair of previously announced new supermarkets in Maryland and Connecticut due to begin operations in 2025.
The New York-based grocer said Monday that its store in Rockville, Maryland, will debut on June 25. The 80,000-square-foot store in suburban Washington, D.C., will be the chain’s ninth in Maryland.
Less than a month later, Wegmans will make its debut in Connecticut when it opens a 92,000-square-foot location in Norwalk on July 23.
Wegmans is currently hiring workers for both stores, noting that the Rockville location will have about 400 employees and the store in Norwalk will provide jobs for around 500 people.
Wegmans is preparing to open its first location on New York’s Long Island. The 101,000-square-foot store, in Lake Grove, New York, is set to welcome its first shoppers on Feb. 26.
Last month, Wegmans said it plans to build a store in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, that will be the chain’s first location in the Pittsburgh area. The grocer, which currently runs 111 stores along the East Coast, has not determined when construction on that location will begin. The store will be part of a mixed-use development planned by Sippel Enterprises LP that will include commercial, residential and office space in addition to retail facilities.
