Dive Insight:
Weis will serve as the anchor tenant for a 280,000-square-foot mixed-use retail center with grand openings for the first tenants planned between fall 2025 and spring 2026, according to the announcement.
The upcoming store will be Weis Markets’ fourth store in Delaware and first ground-up development in the state, the announcement noted.

This announcement builds on Weis’ recent work to expand its store fleet. Last May, the regional grocer told investors its plans to begin construction on six new stores intended to open throughout 2025.
In September, Weis announced its agreement to acquire a pair of Pennsylvania supermarkets and other assets from Sunnyway Foods. The grocer stated it would rebrand the stores under its banner.
Currently, the Mid-Atlantic grocery chain operates 197 locations across its home state of Pennsylvania as well as Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and West Virginia.
