Whole Foods Market is gearing up to bolster its Manhattan presence with its small-format Daily Shops.
The specialty grocer’s previously announced East Village StuyTown and Hell’s Kitchen Daily Shop stores will open on May 14 and June 4, respectively, according to a Wednesday press release.
The East Village Daily Shop, located at 409 East 14th St., will span 10,000 square feet and include a Java & Juice venue serving tea, coffee, juices, smoothies, sandwiches and desserts. The store will also introduce ginger beer maker Uncle Waithley’s, a new local Harlem-based supplier
The Hell’s Kitchen store at 301 West 50th St., meanwhile, is smaller at 8,500 square feet.
“Both locations are designed to bring the freshest, high-quality ingredients to customers with a convenience that fits their fast-paced urban lifestyles,” Whole Foods said in the announcement.
Whole Foods continues with its Daily Shop rollout
Each store will offer grocery staples like produce, meat and seafood, supplements and alcohol, with local products available throughout. Prepared foods will include sandwiches, prepackaged meals and sushi from Genji Sushi. Whole Foods’ 365 private brand will be available as well as the Whole Foods Market Kitchens brand, which offers seasonal bakery and prepared foods items. Both Daily Shops will also stock artisanal cheeses from U.S. brands and ones imported from various European countries.
The East Village and Hell’s Kitchen stores mark the second and third Daily Shops Whole Foods has opened. The inaugural shop, located in the Lenox Hill Neighborhood of New York City’s Upper East Side, opened in September. Whole Foods plans to open two more Daily Shops in Manhattan but has yet to specify their locations.
