Winn-Dixie is getting ‘Down Down’ with discounts

Winn-Dixie has launched its “Down Down” program, lowering prices on over 150 everyday items and saving customers more than 15% on average, according to a Wednesday press release.
Fresh produce, dairy items, pantry goods, frozen meals and appetizers, snacks, health and beauty products and cleaning supplies are among the products being discounted this spring. A new selection of items is discounted every season.
While inflation has eased up over the past few months, shoppers are still feeling its impact, paving the way for new discount opportunities from grocers.

Spring season discounted goods from the Southeast grocer’s Down Down program are available to shoppers both in-store and through its online ordering platform where customers can select delivery or curbside pickup, according to the announcement. Marked down items are labeled with a red hand on signs and tags throughout stores.

“Through our signature ‘Down Down’ program, with prices that are down and staying down, we strive to make it easy for busy shoppers to maximize value on their grocery budgets,” Dewayne Rabon, chief merchandising officer for Southeastern Grocers, Winn-Dixie’s parent company, said in the announcement.

The seasonal discount can also be used with the grocer’s loyalty program, accessible through the Winn-Dixie app, the press release notes. Winn-Dixie’s rewards program offers shoppers points redeemable for money off groceries as well as Mystery Bonus points multipliers and personalized rewards offers.

For a limited time, Winn-Dixie is also offering free delivery or pickup for orders of more than $35, per the announcement.

Grocers have continued to roll out a number of discount options in recent months in order to aid shoppers amid high inflation, which has deflated in recent months.

Meijer announced updating its mPerks loyalty program in mid-January, offering shoppers more personalized rewards and providing customers with greater savings. Members can now earn points on products in certain categories, have a longer time to use points before they expire and can choose how and when they redeem their points. Last year, that grocer also began offering produce discounts for a limited time to SNAP customers.

In December 2022, Instacart began offering its Instacart+ membership at a discounted rate to SNAP participants.
