Missouri-based Woods Supermarket has opened its first out-of-state location in Johnstown, Colorado, the town announced last month.
The latest Woods store aims to be a one-stop shopping location with a full line of discount groceries and liquor, the announcement said. The store also features nine different restaurant concepts, a tap room with live music and seating for nearly 120 patrons. According to a local news outlet, the store’s horseshoe-shaped bar rivals those found in nearby restaurants.
The town and grocer hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new store on March 19.
“Families of all types can appreciate the ability to come together, have a meal, listen to live music, play a board game while dining, and do their shopping together,” Jeff Woods, third-generation owner and president of Woods, said in a statement.
Creating memorable in-store offerings has been a priority for grocers and retailers in recent years as customers seek differentiated shopping experiences. Walmart, for example, has ushered in a number of new quick-service restaurant partners to serve meals like pizza, hoagies, hot dogs and poke to several locations.
The new location is in the Ledge Rock Center and has created 250 jobs within the community, the release noted.
Woods has been family-owned since its founding 75 years ago and currently operates 11 grocery stores and a handful of convenience stores.
