Amazon is expanding the number of grocers that offer its delivery service.
The retailer giant announced Monday it is now offering same-day two-hour grocery delivery from Lucky Supermarkets in select cities across the San Francisco Bay Area.
Amazon shoppers in the San Francisco area can buy groceries, alcohol, household items, healthy and beauty products and baby products from Lucky using the e-commerce company’s website.
Lucky has 61 stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. Amazon did not say how many Lucky stores are offering its delivery service.
The Save Mart Companies, the parent company of Lucky, linked up with Amazon for delivery in the fall of 2022 with the launch of two-hour grocery delivery in California’s Central Valley. The grocery company operates approximately 200 stores under the Save Mart, Lucky California and FoodMaxx banners.
Amazon also serves as a delivery partner for retailers like Cardenas Markets, Bristol Farms, Bartell Drugs, Weis Markets, Rite Aid, Pet Food Express and Mission Wine & Spirits.
“Our goal is to build a best-in-class grocery shopping experience — whether shopping in-store or online — where Amazon is the first choice for selection, value, and convenience. As part of that, we’re teaming up with third-party retailers we know our customers already love, like Lucky, to offer more selection at great prices and delivery directly from our website,” Carol Rogalski, an Amazon spokesperson, wrote in an email.
Earlier this year, Amazon said it would expand its smart cart solution, known as Dash Carts, to all U.S. Amazon Fresh stores and select third-party grocery stores. Amazon’s new grocery subscription includes free delivery on orders over $35 from grocers it’s already partnered with, like Cardenas and Save Mart.
